How do I save or keep the RPM mode on primaries?

I want to start a mission with the fastest RPM on Variable or Tenderizer, but it always defaults to the standard setting—even though I have the 'Remember weapon function' option enabled in the settings. It only seems to save firing modes like semi, auto, burst, etc. Is there any way to fix this?
