I'm in a state of constant splitting on a person, how do I stop?

đź’Seeking Support & Advice

I have a lot of pent up anger against my father due to the hurt he's caused me. This past year, he hasn't lashed out on me nearly as hard nor as frequent as he used to do, and I can tell that he's been greatly holding himself back ever since he hit me last year, but him holding back's done nothing to ease my nerves. If anything, it's been making me tenser.

Ever since I was little, I've always been disappointed whenever my father came back home, but these several months, I've started to notice that my entire mood shifts the second he steps foot into the house. Now that summer's around, the seasonal pattern of my depression eased down, but no matter how relaxed or happy I'd been that day, having my father around the house turns me sour, bitter and very easy to trigger. He can't do anything that won't piss me off, even if it's something like singing along to a song and laughing.

I just wish that he'd lash out or get physical with me just so I can scream at him. Get it out of my system. But none of these are healthy ways to resolve things, so what can I do if a person's mere existence is enough for me to be stuck in a constant split? I'm normally good at isolating myself and calming down while splitting on people because said people are ones that I care about and don't wish to hurt, but the person in question here is one I don't like. I don't give a rat's ass about his feelings, but I want relief from this ever-present anger.
