What's an "objectively bad" gimmick you loved anyway?
As title says. A gimmick that ON PAPER is just... not great. Something you'd hear about from a friend and be like "lol what that's so stupid" and then you watched it and it alllll just clicked for ya. Maybe you're in the minority, maybe the whole thing got so over and nobody can point to an obvious "why", lol.
Celebrate the weird and show respect!
First that comes to mind for me is the Mean Street Posse. I loved the stupid sweater vests, the theme music, the whole idea being privileged Connecticut rich kids following their goon Shane around.
Honorable mentions:
- Drew Gulak's Powerpoints on 205 Live
- Jinder Mahal in general. I know he got the world title and I feel like he's not universally panned, but for some reason him + The Bollywood Boyz was one of the few "guy with cronies who interfere in every match" gimmicks that really worked for me
- The Trustbusters on AEW. It was just so random, I dunno. Maybe it was the kickass theme song
