App not working unless next to the car

Was standing at my front door and noticed my sunroof was open even though the app said it was closed. Tried to use the app to close it and it kept glitching and saying something is wrong try later. Then it told me to stand next to the vehicle for the app to close the sunroof and mirrors. If I have to stand right next to the car, I don't need the app. Anyone else have this problem?
