Help with funeral speech

Spoiler:pin: Trilogy Discussion

This is my first post!

I recently had a close friend pass due to complications battling terminal cancer. He was 20 years old.

His parents asked me to speak at his funeral, and I need help with the speech. I’ve lost people before, but the grief of watching someone so young die so brutally is a different kind of agony. I’m having trouble finding people who can understand- but I am reminded of the hunger games, and its theme of how absolutely horrible and awful it is to lose young people to such brutal and uncontrollable situations.

Here’s where I need help. I know in the Catching Fire movie, Peeta has a wonderful line for Rue. Something like, “Our lives aren’t just measured in years; they’re measured in the lives of the people we touch around us.” It’s a beautiful quote that helps me focus on other aspects of life than just how many years a person got to be here on Earth. It helps ease a drop of the anguish.

I need help because I cannot seem to find this quote anywhere in the book. I want to give credit to where this quote comes from, and I feel like it will have more impact coming from a book versus saying, “I got this from a movie”. I have googled and looked at goodreads and they all claim this quote is in Peeta’s speech in the book but I can’t find it. Is there some other way version of the Catching Fire book out there? His funeral is in a few days. I know it doesn’t seem like a big deal, but for some reason it is to me right now.

Thank you, and any other advice or help is appreciated.
