Brand build for league start?

Love the idea of playing a brand build and would like to league start one next league but I'm not super sure what to do. I messed around with arma brand saboteur as a 5th character: https://pobb.in/2H_WEAlcUflX . But I really didn't like the triggerbots, even with convocation - felt very clunky having to sometimes wait for them to catch up to me.

Wintertide brand occultist seems super cool to me but messing around in POB it seems like the damage is very very low even with high investment.

Wondering if any variation of penance brand is a good league start? Or is there a better way to build arma brand than the triggerbots build?
