Our family corn snake passed away
My daughter and I got a baby corn snake together about 7 months ago. She was small. We feed her small pinky mice every week, kept her well taken care of, water, clean tank, etc.
7 months have passed(we got her when she was about 6 months old, making her a year old) she never got much bigger. Just kind of stayed real small. At some point she refused her weekly feeding. So i tried every day after that and nothing happened and she refused. I assumed she was getting ready to shed and wasn't hungry.
I came in after about a week and a half, close to two weeks of not eating, to find her dead.
We are gutted. My 7 year old daughter is upset and understandably sad. I'm very sad because it was a bonding experience for us. I also feel extremely guilty, like I did something wrong....or I failed to recognize some sign that something was wrong with the snake, and I should have acted.
I don't really have a point to this post, other than I'm extremely sad, have a terrible guilty feeling in my gut, and heartbroken that my daughter is going through this pain.
This corn snake, maddie, brought a lot of love and joy in our house for the short time she was there.
