how do you steal that much?

my friend works in a pharmacy and a person in the company was fired for stealing money and drugs from the company by doing a refund of the meds. it took over 4 years to catch her and she stole way more than 100 thousand dollars. the owner of the company decided to not get the police involved and even let her tell everybody that didnt know she stole the money she quit to take care of her kids. it seems fishy he just sweeps it under the rug so should i keep quiet on this or should i look into it deeper?
