Single M trying to enter the scen for first time...

Single Male Discussion

I (33M) am new to the lifestyle scene. I really want to make connections with like-minded people as im a little exhausted feeling like i have to hide my attractions and kinks from my more vanilla friends.

I am polyamourous and I have a partner, but they live out of state. As such, if I attended events, I would be going as a single guy (unless one of my more sex positive friends goes with). So because of that, I had some questions I was hoping some of you may take the time to answer. Or at least point me in the direction of a post of thread that I can read, since I haven't had any luck finding anything.

  1. My biggest fear is coming into a space where I am unwanted and not welcome. While I am perfectly happy respecting boundaries with wristbands or waiting to be invited to the upstairs spaces, is it even worth it to attend as a single guy? I am heteroflexible and I'm open to trying new experiences, so I'm not going with the intention of just hooking up with wives, however I know that there is a real concern with single men in this community being gross and toxic.

  2. Should I just not attend until I can find a partner who has the same interests and wants to go? I don't even know where to look for someone like that, except at these events? 😅

  3. What is the best way as a first time goer to come into this space respectfully and safely when I go to my first event? Should I bring like an extra bottle of champagne?

  4. What prerequisites, if any, should I have before attending? Do I need to provide my own protection?

  5. I know everyone says "just be yourself and be respectful" when talking about how to act, but are there unspoken subject matters, play behaviors, kinks, or anything I should be aware of so I don't offend anyone? (Not saying that I'm super weirdly kinky or I'm going to cause a problem, just again I am very nervous about coming intona space that already feels like the majority may not want me there.)

  6. Do you have any general advice, context, jokes, lore, or anything you want to share with me?

I really want to open a dialogue and conversation so I can be fully educated before attending. Thank you all so much! ❤️
