Asking advise from the Information System Technician (IT) Reserve
Hi all,
I’m 31 and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering in 2020. I worked as a QA Analyst for about 2.5 years before being laid off. Since then, I’ve taken on various jobs to make ends meet, but none have been related to my background in tech.
I’ve applied to over 100 positions, landed a few interviews, but unfortunately haven’t made it through the final rounds. Still, I’m determined to get back into a tech-related role.
Lately, I’ve been seriously considering joining the U.S. Navy to receive IT training and then serve in the Reserves. From what I understand, the path includes 9 weeks of bootcamp followed by 6 months of technical training.
If anyone here has gone through a similar route, I’d really appreciate it if you could share your experience. What kind of opportunities opened up for you after receiving IT training through the military?
Thanks in advance!
