F60 Coolant Issue

Hey all

Last week I had a coolant issue with my 2018 Countryman S All4 (~65k miles).

Had it towed to the dealer (25 miles away). They said the Oil Filter Housing had a major leak and that the water-pump/thermostat might have a small leak too.

The dealer price for this repair is really high.... Like $3650.. and taxes will make it close to $4k!!!! WTF BMW!! This is a 7 year old car with low miles and not raced.

I have had good success with the dealer on past repairs, but this is wacked. I asked the service advisor if there were service bulletins or recalls on it. No luck.... but I did find an attorney online who is already working on a class action against BMW for this exact issue on the B46, B48 and B58 engines.

I am pricing it at 3rd party shops in Chicago now.
So far, they seem to be less expensive by 25%, but can't hard quote it till they see it. This means another tow.

Looking for some general advice on the typical cost (labor and parts) of these things. Also, how many of you has this happened to?
