T-Shirt and DTF Printing Cost in Reality? Not YouTube—Need Real Numbers!
Thinking of Starting a T-Shirt Clothing Brand – Need Honest Help from Experienced Folks
Hey everyone, I’m planning to start a clothing brand focused mainly on T-shirts. I know this is a highly competitive market, and success is never guaranteed—but I’m working on something different and want to give it a real shot.
Right now, I’m trying to understand the actual landscape of manufacturing and DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing. I’ve seen tons of YouTubers visiting factories and quoting really low prices per T-shirt. But when I browse online or try to contact suppliers directly, the prices I get are often much higher—sometimes double or more.
I know a lot of this info might be exaggerated or only apply to bulk quantities. Still, even a few successful business owners seem to back up those low price claims. That’s why I’m posting here—to get some realistic numbers and honest input from people actually in the business.
If you’re running a clothing brand (especially T-shirt based), I’d really appreciate your help in understanding:
The actual per-piece cost for 180, 200, 240, and 300 GSM plain cotton T-shirts (round neck or v-neck)
What GSM/fabric works best for DTF, sublimation, or vinyl printing
Any genuine manufacturers or suppliers you recommend (India preferred)
And any tips, warnings, or experiences you'd share for someone just starting out
This post is just a reality check before I dive in too deep. I really want to build something meaningful, and your insights could save me from big beginner mistakes.
Thanks so much in advance 🙏
Also, if you’re a clothing brand owner or manufacturer, I’d deeply appreciate it if you could connect me to the manufacturers or print vendors you trust or currently work with.
