I'm actually struggling. is this caused by autism or am I just crazy?
Ok, let's get to the point. I feel like no one likes me until they get to know me. I was shocked when my bf asked me out so quickly after meeting him; I mean, he could have aspbergers, but I'm not a psychologist. Otherwise, most of the people I've ever met have treated me really weird. I've been in a bad relationship before and a lot of bad friendships; people like to take advantage of me and my, for lack of better words, vulnerability and empathy (I'm not gullible, but I do trust too easily). I try to practice self-awareness as much as I can, but apparently I can be too much to new people. My boyfriend suggested "small talk," but I thought that's what I was doing already. Do people not like me because I'm autistic and unintentionally do whatever autistic people unintentionally do, or is it something else? I thought it was my appearance, so I changed that, and then I thought it was my beliefs. After testing next to everything, almost nothing really explained it. When I hid my beliefs foolishly, I was taken advantage of. When I somehow got in a bad relationship with my ex and tried to change myself to make him happy (he made comments about EVERYTHING I did) until I lost my sense of self, nothing changed. I genuinely feel like I'm going crazy sometimes. I know I can come off harshly, but I'm still somewhat smart and definitely educated. I'm not very attractive, but I can't change that. I genuinely don't know why people don't like me that much. Honestly, I don't even care if they do, I just want to know why. does anyone else have this problem?
