Numbness around the belly?

Hi all. I'm almost 29 weeks now, and recently I've experienced a lot of numbness (almost like anesthesia) around the front of my belly, particularly around the belly button.

It felt so numb sometimes I didn't realize I was pressing up against the counter top when I was washing my hands at the sink.

I did ask my OB and he said it's normal. I didn't feel this in my previous pregnancy though and wanted to check if others have experienced similar, been told the reason it might feel numb, or whether it's normal or not.
