AIO for cutting off my friend for humiliating me?
Things ain’t been great in my life over the last year and whenever that happens I take time to myself and let it blow over. Part of the rough spot is that my relationship ended and it stung bad. I thought I was doing everything right and being a good boyfriend but it still fell apart, so I figure I just ain’t cut out for relationships and it’s better to lean into work, sports, and other things that give me meaning.
My ex was part of a particular friend group and they know that we split. One of them contacted me a few times after the fact inviting me to things, but I always declined because I’m taking space for myself right now. A couple weeks ago he invited me again and this time was super insistent, so I figured why not, I’ll go for an hour or two and then bounce.
It was a mid-size gathering at his place and I was just chilling, then he comes up to me with a woman whose name I knew from when he’d talk about her but I’d never met her. He introduced her and said we should get to know each other better, then he left us alone. I was so goddamn pissed. He knew I was done with dating because I’d told him as much and he pulls this stunt. It wasn’t funny. I didn’t blow up at her or anything, just kept answers short, found an excuse to get up, and left the house. He texted me later asking where I went and I told him that wasn’t cool, that there wasn’t nothing right about that. Blocked him after that along with everyone else in that group because who knows who else was in on it.
It’s been a couple weeks and I was talking to my pops who thought I should reach out again, but there ain’t no point since that bridge has been torched and I don’t see how he could think that when this guy tried to embarrass me in front of other people. But fine, I’m open to being told I was wrong here.
