Naples + Salerno or Naples + Sorrento for 5-6 nights (late Sept)?

We’ll be in Italy for the first time Sept 28–Oct 3 (5-6 nights) and trying to decide how to split our stay. We’re thinking 1–2 nights in Naples, then 3–4 nights in either Salerno or Sorrento so we can really explore the coast.

Our priorities:

• Good food, local charm, and beaches
• 1–2 day trips (Pompeii and either Positano/Amalfi or maybe Capri, but I get seasick)
• Avoiding ferry reliance if possible
• We’re not super into the big tourist traps or super expensive spots, but we also don’t want to miss out on anything truly worth it.

Thoughts? Would love any advice you'd be able to give.
