Any obscure path to UK/IR citizenship?
So, I have an unusual story.
I was born in the late 70s to an Indian father and Malaysian mother. My father was working in Ireland at the time on a visa. My mother was with him, but decided to go back to Malaysia for the delivery, to be with her parents. So i was born in Malaysia and held a Malaysian passport. We both returned to Ireland a few months later.
Fast forward a couple of years to the early 80s, and we moved to the UK. Around 1984, we got UK ILR and continued to live there, I went to school and university there. Unfortunately, due to my own naivety and some family situations, I never applied for British citizenship.
In the early 2000s, I left the UK, and moved to the US for graduate school, later getting a job, a green card and eventually US citizenship. I had to then renounced my Malaysian citizenship due to their rules.
Anyway, it's a total long shot, but I am just wondering if I would have any claim to British (or even longer shot) Irish citizenship under these atypical circumstances. TIA.
