'Mood tyrant'

Watcha, I remember reading in an Amis non fiction his description of an older relative or acquaintance as a 'mood tyrant', someone whose grumpiness can overwhelm a whole house or gathering. Having just experienced 3 days with someone with the same effect, I was wondering, can anyone remember where this is or who it was about? Thanks.
