How to get an assistant system administrator job in Germany as a non-EU citizen?
Hi everyone,
I'm currently working as an assistant system administrator in my home country (outside the EU), and I would like to move to Germany through a Blue Card or visa sponsorship. I have experience with:
- Windows Server (basic administration)
- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP
- Group Policy configuration (like blocking apps, setting static IPs, printer sharing)
- Basic networking and desktop support
I have started learning German. My main goal is to grow my knowledge, earn a stable income, and build an IT career in Germany.
I'm looking for advice from people who have made a similar move or know how the process works. Some questions:
- What’s the best way to apply for junior or assistant sysadmin jobs from abroad?
- Are there companies or agencies that support visa sponsorship for entry-level IT roles?
- How important is a degree or certification (I have practical experience)?
- Is it possible to get hired without visiting Germany first?
- Any tips for making my resume or cover letter stand out?
If you've successfully moved to Germany as an IT specialist (especially without a degree), I’d love to hear your story or any resources you recommend.
Thanks in advance
