Best way to store colognes?

This might sound like a dumb question if you're really experienced but I'm super new to buying and collecting colognes so enlighten my ignorance please.
I know heat is really bad for them so I should keep them in a dark, dry, and "cool" place.
Other sources recommend storing them in my fridge for "longevity" as well as for maintaining a constant temperature, as there can be "hot spots" in rooms.
