quest 2 not charging after extended period of time not being used

I got my quest 2 a few years back but due to some space changes didnt get around to using it past the 6th month owning it and its been about a year now since I have last used it but I plugged it in today and a hour later nothing is showing up. The led light isnt on and pressing the powerbutton doesnt show the battery icon on the screen. Has anyone else experienced this or have a solution to it?
