Termination of employment

Article

Hello r/jobs

I don’t really know if this applies for this sub, but Im trying to see my alternatives. I was employed at my job until today. They fired me for what I believe is something unfair. I went through a mental health breakdown and had to go to the hospital on july 10th. They baker acted me and I was there until july 14th. They took my phone, but before that I notified my team lead I would not be able to assist work the next day. I left the hospital that 14th and on july 15th HR sent me an FMLA form for me to go on leave. For about 5 days I tried to get it signed by the hospital I was in but they had previously told me that they probably would not sign it because they would need to evaluate me for a longer time. Inotified HR as soon as I found out that they declined to sign it and that I was seeing a new psychiatrist and she also told me that I would need to see her more times for her to be able to sign it. I also told HR that next monday (28th) that I would be starting an IOP program to seek help. Well today they emailed me that I was terminated for job abandonment. I dont know what to do. I live alone here in Florida and my family won’t let me Live with them at all back home. My communication with my employer wasnt great due to my mental state and I dont have the screenshots of evidence because they deactivated my slack account. Im working on applying for unemployment benefits but im locked out of my account so I have to call next Morning. My insurance also ends on the 31st so Idk what Ill do about that either. I was seeing my therapist and psychiatrist weekly but I guess that will have to end. I was looking at lawyers I also looked up DOL and EEOC to possible sue. Any help would be appreciated.
