Question about offset and early repayment

Hello We just started speaking to a broker. He said there was a difference between putting extra money in the offset vs doing extra repayment (appart the fact you can withdraw from offset) I didn't quite understand (he tried to explain multiple times ahah), he seems to say it was more beneficial to do extra repayment in terms of value, can anyone eli5? If I put 100aud in offset every month, it reduces the interest payed. 100aud extra repayment per month would also reduce the interest payed by the same amount? What am I missing?
