Old Strathcona’s MP spent the afternoon beer tasting at Campio, scheming how to lock down the Venezuelan and Colombian vote for 2029, while addicts scrape meth crystals from the sidewalks around her. Homelessness is rising. Streets are collapsing. And she’s planning re-election, not relief.

Old Strathcona’s MP spent the afternoon downing beer tasters at Campio, plotting how to lock in the Venezuelan and Colombian vote for 2029 — while addicts scrape meth crystals from cracks in the sidewalk beside her.

Whyte Ave, one of Edmonton’s top tourist spots, is now littered with “safe injection sites” disguised as rehab centers. I've spoken to numerous homeless people and these places don't help anyone recover or get back on their feet. They give out addictive drugs that only dull mental trauma and physical pain for a few hours. I've met people who have lost limbs in the winter because they are forced to sleep outside in frozen temperatures.

Meanwhile, dying people must wait 10-24+ hours in the University of Alberta emergency room in critical condition before they get a turn to see a doctor, while surrounded by cracked out and unconscious people using the waiting room as a safe house. They've employed several security guards, who stand around doing nothing. Dying elderly can't even get a seat because half the room is full of people who shouldn't be there.

Meanwhile, local churches and Hope Mission are doing more than the MP is.

A few months in, and she’s campaigning and planning re-election — not cleaning up or helping anyone.

I don't know where else to post this but I'm frustrated and disgusted. When are we going to get a representative who takes action and actually cares about people?
