How would you improve your "speaking like a native" journey ?

Bonjour les apprenant.e.s (désolé pour celles et ceux qui commencent à apprendre mais j'aime bien l'écriture inclusive :))

I'm Alex (French native) and I'm developing a web app specifically designed to help foreigners break through the barriers of speaking like a native French speaker. Moving beyond textbook French to the natural expressions, rhythm, and nuances that make you truly sound French.

I'd be happy to answer any questions about achieving that native-like fluency (language patterns, cultural context, colloquialisms, etc.) to the best of my ability (though I'm not a professional teacher ;))

In exchange, I'm curious about the specific moments when you realize your French still sounds "foreign", what language gaps make you feel stuck or prevent you from expressing yourself naturally? What aspects of native speech patterns do current apps and materials fail to address? Whether it's the informal registers, the cultural references, the way natives actually connect ideas, or those subtle pronunciation patterns that mark you as a learner, I want to understand where you hit walls.

If you could design the perfect tool to help you cross that final bridge from "fluent learner" to "sounds actually French," what would it focus on? This insight will help me craft an app that tackles the real challenges of achieving native-like expression.

Merci beaucoup à tous et toutes 🙏🏻
Alex
