Anyone experimented with alkaline mineral solutions for gastritis or upper GI discomfort?
I've been dealing with chronic gastritis for a while now — the usual rollercoaster: occasional burning, bloating, fatigue, even that weird “hollow” pain after meals. I’ve tried the usual suspects (PPIs, famotidine, bland diet, etc.), and while they help some, I recently started looking into whether systemic acid balance or dietary acid load could be contributing to my upper GI issues.
I came across some research suggesting that low-grade acidosis from diet can impair mucosal repair and may worsen inflammation in the stomach lining. On a whim, I started using a gentle mineral buffer made of natural bicarbonates and citrates (nothing fancy — just potassium/sodium bicarb + citrate combo) and within about a week I noticed less nausea, smoother digestion, and even a little more energy.
Not saying it’s a magic fix — and I’m still careful with my food triggers — but I’m now really curious:
🔸 Has anyone else here tried using alkaline minerals or citrate-based buffering agents to support recovery from gastritis or dyspepsia?
🔸 Or any thoughts on how acid/base balance might affect gut healing in general?
Totally open to feedback, and I’d love to hear from anyone who's explored this angle. 🙏
