Number of ortho consults?

My preteen has visited 5 orthodontists in our region over the past two years. All 5 recommended extraction of 4 premolars. We made an appointment a year ago to remove the teeth and I canceled out of worry. The appointment is now Friday and I find myself wanting to cancel again after discovering and reading here.

How many ortho consults did you do to feel secure? I think 5 is enough but find myself doubting as the date draws near.
