When should I be worried about commitment

Hi all- I’m seeking primarily men over 35 advice when should I be worried about my boyfriend’s level of commitment or getting engaged vs not getting engaged ? I’m in my mid 30s and he is very early 40s . We bought a house together a year into our relationship and have lived together for less than a year . Our two year is in early autumn . I know all of this seems early but at our age isn’t it not ? I have always been super vocal and honest about my personal wants and goals (marriage , family ) and he has always been super responsive and pretty affirming regarding it . All of that being said he has also said some confusing things about timelines and him thinking four years even isn’t that long of dating to be ready for a serious commitment .

He’s an amazing person and boyfriend and I’m absolutely obsessed with him and would have married him a year in given the chance . I’m just worried if he doesn’t know after two years in his forties aren’t I probably not the one for him ? He says he is happy and content and we are continuing to nest and travel but I try not to project my anxieties on him too much. I above all else would never pressure him into doing something he doesn’t want to (permanently commit to Me) - also yes I’m in therapy :)

I’m just curious on a male perspective on when a guy would know typically or when would be a red flag ? Thanks for all the advice

TL;DR- looking for advice from both genders of when is a reasonable time period to wait for a serious commitment with a partner
