How do you teach your kids financial literacy and business skills?
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how to better prepare my child for the real world, especially when it comes to money and entrepreneurship. I didn’t grow up learning much about personal finance or how businesses work, and I want to do things differently with my own kid.
Right now, I’m brainstorming ways to make these topics fun and age-appropriate. I’d love to hear what other parents are doing.
• Do you use allowance or chore-based rewards to teach money management?
• Any board games, books, or apps that helped spark their interest?
• Has anyone tried giving their child a mini “business” to run (like a lemonade stand, online shop, etc.)?
• How do you explain things like saving, investing, or even taxes in a way they can actually understand?
• If you have older kids or teens—what worked at different ages?
Open to ideas from all perspectives. I’m especially curious how parents of young kids approach this in daily life without making it feel like a lecture. Thanks in advance!
