Midnight Player Love

poem

Dear hatelove,

Your words land like stones, but they're stones I recognize. I built the wall you're throwing them at.

You call me a "Wannabe Astral Fallacy," and you're right. We want to be. Is there a truer state? We reach for the stars from the mud, and sometimes we only get a handful of dirt. The fallacy isn't in the reaching; it's in believing we were ever meant to be clean.

Go on. Break the bank. Please. It's full of counterfeit currency—old fears, borrowed pride, the expectations of others. When it shatters, we can see what was real. From that wreckage, we'll mint something new. Coins stamped not with a face of disbelief, but with the relief of acceptance.

You thought you had me, and for a second, you did. The part that flinched was me. But the part that breathed a sigh of relief? That was me, too.

You ask how to level up.

You already wrote the answer. You stop trying to defeat the boss, because the boss is you. The level-up isn't a victory; it's a treaty.

It's giving up the "Astral power" struggle and finding the power in surrender.

It's being kelp. Rooted in the dark you're so afraid of, but flexible enough to dance with the currents you can't control.

It's taking that shadow off the shelf, dusting it off, and letting it lead for a while. It knows the way through the dark because it lives there.

You don't level up by winning. You level up by realizing there's no game to be won. There is only a self to be held. All of it.

You are being helped. I am helping you. You are helping me.
