Unpopular Opinion: Automated Plant Care Is Making Us Lazy Botanists

I've been thinking a lot lately about all the new automated plant care gadgets, like self-watering systems and moisture sensors that send data to your phone. While they seem amazing on the surface, promising perfect plant health wiht minimal effort, I wonder if they're actually making us worse plant owners in the long run.

think about it: we're outsourcing the core of plant care - observation and responsiveness. Instead of learning to recognize the subtle signs of overwatering or underwatering, we rely on a sensor to tell us. Instead of adjusting our watering schedule based on the changing seasons and our plant's needs, we just refill the reservoir on our self-watering pot. We're losing the intuition and understanding that comes from actively engaging with our plants.

Is relying on these gadgets creating a generation of plant owners who can only keep plants alive if they have the right tech? Are we sacrificing genuine knowledge for convenience? I'm curious to hear what other people think about this.
