hello plant lovers. i’ve been dealing with mealybugs rapidly spreading to all the succulents in my windowsill over the past year or so. i’ve drenched them with 70% isopropyl alcohol and scrubbed them off with q tips probably 4 or 5 times now but they keep coming back and getting worse. tonight i finally hit my breaking point and i scrubbed each one down again with a q tip and 70% isopropyl alcohol until i couldn’t see any more. then i removed as much soil as i could from the roots and rinsed everything off with water. then i took a soft bristle toothbrush and scrubbed them some more to get into all the little nooks and crannies. then i laid them out on the towel as pictured and sprayed everything with isopropyl alcohol again. i’m going to let them dry overnight and then i have neem oil coming in the mail tomorrow so i’ll spray them down with that and let them dry again. then i’m going to repot them in fresh soil and hope for the best. is this a lost cause? i would be devastated to lose all these babies to the mealybugs—i’ve had most of these for YEARS. but i’m so sick of trying to get rid of them. i feel succulents might be dang near impossible to save from mealybugs because they get into those nooks and crannies and if one little nook or cranny isn’t scrubbed out then a mealybug might survive and start over the whole process. i’m hoping the toothbrush helped, and changing the soil. and hopefully the neem oil does something. i haven’t tried it before. please if there’s anything else i should be doing let me know 🙏🏻🙏🏻 otherwise just pray to the plant gods with me that my babies make it
