AITA for pushing my roommate to stop taking control of the house and better manage her cat?

Not the A-hole

I (F20s) live with two roommates both (F20s). One of them (B) moved in a month before us and set up everything with the landlord and utilities while I was overseas and the other roommate stayed at home. Since then, she’s kept control of all communication with the landlord and wouldn’t give us his number until my other roommate snapped at her after asking multiple times. She says she feels overwhelmed being “in charge,” after an incident where she told us about a utility bill 2 hours before it was due, but we never asked her to take that role, she was just the first one to really move in. She also didn’t tell me my bedroom window was broken until three days before I moved in and had known for weeks about it but had it “handled,” so I didn’t have to know until I was about to move in and it still wasn’t fixed according to her.

The bigger issue is her cat. He scratches furniture, knocks things over, has damaged a brand new blanket, and has even scratched people that come over. A corner of the living room is taken up with his cat tower/toys, which was never cleared with me and my other roommate, so the space doesn’t feel shared between the three of us. She thinks that since she had contributed to most of the furniture in that area that she is entitled to have that space for her cat since “she has no where else to put it.” Not to mention I’m also allergic to cats. Her cat’s breed is labeled “hypoallergenic,” but that doesn’t mean he’s fully allergy-free, and she won’t keep him in her room when she’s not home. Her “compromise” has been asking me or my other roommate to discipline him, put him in her room, or manage him if we have people over, which feels like she’s putting responsibility for her cat on us.

When we’ve tried to bring these issues up, she gets extremely defensive. Between the control over the landlord, not being upfront about house issues, and refusing to manage her cat, I feel like the living situation is becoming one-sided.
