Meaning of independent rights?

NPC is trying to control my household stating that they must agree with my medical/education/ etc.. decisions before I make them.

In our order, it states we each have the independent right to make decisions regarding that stuff.

What exactly does this mean?

As the primary, the child has a set doctor and schooling at our residence.

Any clarity would be great!
