my manager is always singling me out

I’ve been in this job for 2 years now, and I work in a small team of 4 that basically monitors the performance metrics of the other teams.

I do a good job and am glad it lets me network with other team leads, trainers, managers etc.

What I’ve grown to really dislike is my senior manager (who is effectively our manager) who for some reason is so pally pally with the rest of my team, and yet won’t even sit next to me when it’s just the two of us in the office. If we’ve a meeting together he’ll zoom ahead when walking back just so he sense have to walk with me. I’ve only ever got two good comments from him, whereas most of our interactions are solely singling out any mistake I’ve made. Even assuming mistakes were me despite them turning out to be someone else

Friday evening I’d done some extra work as a colleague was off, and I’d teamsed him a run down of what I’d done, and that I’d be happy to go over any mistakes if there were any in my 121. I cap off the convo with “have a great weekend” followed by seen.

Any time I’m criticised I always end our interactions with a smiley emoji and put a positive spin on things, though I am also not afraid to stand up for a point that I feel is valid, backing the logic I used in a situation.

Today may have been the straw that broke the camels back. Friday id not toggled something on that he thought should have, but I had a genuine reasoning as to why. Instead of privately messaging me, he asks in our zoom in front of my whole team, and the managers that I specifically liaise with. For what? To publicly humiliate me? What kind of answer was he expecting?

Even calling me out in our team chat, I’ll always thumbs up his message and then proceed to DM him so that we can have a longer private conversation. But he doesn’t seem to get what it’s doing, or maybe he does.

I honestly think he genuinely doesn’t like me, but I cannot fathom how he’s come to that conclusion? My manager and colleagues are all so pleasant and really good friends of mine (one of which I attended their wedding!).

I wanted to explode on teams but thought that would all be on record. I have my 121 with him tomorrow morning in person, and I’m thinking what level of venting so I go for?

Do I address the embarrassment? The avoidance/rude behaviour?

The lack of any positive reinforcement?

Or is it a bad idea to say this stuff to you boss and is it best to stay stoic/composed
