Exploring the link between owner mental health and their ability to maintain pet daily routines.
I've been thinking a lot lately about how my own mental health impacts my ability to consistently care for my dog, especially when it comes to sticking to our daily routines. We all know dogs thrive on predictability – regular feeding times, walks, playtime, etc. But when I'm struggling with anxiety or depression, even simple tasks like remembering to fill his water bowl or taking him for his usual afternoon walk can feel monumental.
I'm curious if others have experienced this connection. Does your mental health affect your pet care routine? And if so, what strategies have you found helpful in maintaining consistency for your furry friends, even when you're not feeling your best? I've found pre-setting reminders on my phone helps, and on really bad days, breaking down tasks into smaller, more manageable steps makes a difference. Has anyone else found good coping mechanisms that help them stay on track for their pets? Maybe we can share some tips and support each other.
