What do I need to know before bringing home a tripod kitty?

I have been considering getting a cat, as my old girl Xena died a few years ago at the ripe old age of 21 and I miss having a cat. I've got dogs that I love to bits but there's a cat shaped hole you know?

I mentioned this to a coworker and it turns out she is part of a cat rescue and one of the cats she is currently fostering is a grey tabby male with a missing hind leg, and she jokingly suggested he'd be perfect for me (I'm a double below knee amputee). The more I think about it, the more I like the idea.

I raised Xena from a kitten so I know what to expect from a crazy hyper fluffy ball, but what do I need to know specifically about raising a tripod kitten before I commit? If I'm doing this i want to have everything ready for when I bring him home.
