wind river hand plane sole issue

I found out the my wind river no 6 sole is not flat as side edges are higher than middle. Using a file removed high edges, it is much batter now but still can not compare to my old stanley no 7 which was made 100 years ago, nor to veritas. It appears the sole was not surface grinding, disappointing even though I bought it used.
