Like the title. Thought about it being 3 years and decided to go through some old screenshots to see what my roster has looked like. Figured I'd share them and some of my thoughts about Tacticus stuff I reflected on/don't usually think to share with people.

Some image context - first image I was surprised and happy to have lol. It's my first "top lineup" from arena that I for some reason screenshotted. February 26th image was when we heard about Guild War and was getting our top teams sorted. Then June and August 2024 was around when guild war came out so it was neat seeing that fast pivot to get my top teams strong there. Last interesting one is my Ahriman which was my first fully maxed hero.

Some context for my profile - right now I've been saving up energy and plan to be level 60 tomorrow for that Saturday coin boost ;). Been playing since day one and a "dolphin". I spend no more than $50 a year on the game and have played nearly everyday.

I typically buy the two basic ungrindable hero battlepases, the $9 anniversary pack, the New years $5 energy bundle for the guild and maybe I'll buy an extra basic battlepass for a hero I'm interested in (I remember doing it for Neuro).

My only legendary pulls have ever been Abaddon my second week playing and then unbelievably I got Typhus AND Abaddon again in the same pull when I was using up my req horde during the req rework.

Like everyone, I've developed my own hot takes/unpopular/personal opinions over the years so I'll share those.

#1. I have a soft spot for Aba since he was "my first" and actually found him super useful being so high in nearly every single LRE. He's squishier than other tanks and nothing really special but always seemed to fulfill requirements and surprisingly decent at clearing with the let the galaxy burn trait often proccing. Archi helped a lot too. I don't necessarily recommend leveling them though.

#2 Calgar, Celestine and Helbrecht all seem boring to me and I don't feel like farming them. I started/stopped farming Calgar like 5 times before I gave up lol. Never did for Creed or Celestine. maybe like a week of farming for Helbrecht once.

#3 Rag, Kharn team in TA isn't as scary as people make it out. Put bodies/summons in the way, spread out and use fire (on turns after howl) I don't run anything like that squad and usually end top 100-200 in TA.

#4 I was kinda sad about and didn't like the recent Ahriman "buff" for the Neuro team. It hurt his doombolt burst damage a little in pvp. 1st world problem.

#5 More campaigns aren't needed and that's not what most people want when they ask for them. They are fun for the first time you play them and then they turn into raid buttons you click daily. What people actually want are ways to level up heroes faster. You can't have a challenging campaign in this kind of game, because that means you risk losing...which means you risk getting your upgrade item and wasting energy. There's a dissonance in this type of game between wanting to play something fun and challenging, but also wanting to have an easy way to get your resources without risk.

#6 Bottlenecks are of course XP books once you start have 5+ diamonds, but I personally find the biggest bottlenecks being Coins/Badges.

Don't ever look at this game like you will complete something or need to catch up or are too far behind. It's built to make you be far behind - always. With my roster now I still feel behind in the different squads and modes and LREs. To keep it fun, make your goals small, achievable. Get on to use your tokens/energy and do your quests each day and you achieved it. If that loop is still fun and your guildies are still weirdos and making you laugh, and you are progressing at school/work/at home, then keep playing. If not, you don't need to play this. Even if you are feeling like your accomplishing something, games like these sometimes fill that need to actually do something enriching that we aren't doing somewhere else in our real life. There are a million other things to do where that accomplishment is real so go and find it for yourself, you deserve it.

That went in a different place then I thought at the end haha. Anyways, hope this was interesting for someone else and hope to see you gits out there in da WAAAAGHHH!!

Since it's the anniversary, I thought it'd be fun to share my roster and thoughts over the years as a day one player!
