If Fentanyl is so dangerous, why is it added to so many drugs?

Pretty much they title. But why would people selling drugs add Fentanyl if it's more likely to cause overdose and death??? Wouldn't you just be killing your clientele and losing money? Genuinely, just curious. It seems like a dumb ass decision.
