Cat pouncing and biting at night - searching for advice

2 year old male (fixed) cat has been biting me, 27F, at night once I’m in bed. He will be perfectly fine with me on the couch cuddling and hanging out but as soon as I go to bed he will follow me in and wait in the floor to pounce on me and bite my arm since it’s usually exposed. Once he stops the first bite he typically will sit on my bedside table to get a second bite in which is when I typically kick him out. The bites are pretty hard. We rescued him from the street at around 5 months old. Looking for advise or insight on what could be causing this behavior and how to stop it.
