Why not mutual language respect instead of imposition?

🗣️ Discussion | கலந்துரையாடல்

For decades, the debate around language in India has been framed as either Hindi imposition or regional assertion. But what if we flipped the script?

Imagine this:
If Southern states voluntarily come together and promote one of their classical languages (say Tamil, Telugu, or Kannada) as a link language among themselves, North Indians could make an effort to learn that language as their 3rd language. Similarly, people in the South could pick up Hindi as their 3rd language for national unity without imposition!

Let’s normalize linguistic exchange instead of top-down enforcement. Unity doesn’t mean uniformity it means embracing diversity with mutual effort.

No imposition. No cultural dominance. Just shared learning.

What do you think?
