Wolf
I met a lamb a few months back In early February, I believe
At least I thought this was a lamb Soft white fleece, a fragile frame Wide eyes An innocent thing
I was told this lamb would care for me And I for it in turn Just an innocent thing
Me and the lamb then parted ways I didn’t see or think about him for a while then I simply went about my days
Then again the lamb came back to me Innocent eyes and gentle gaze It started to beckon me
“I’ll care for you”, it called to me Again and again, more frequently I went to it then, to stop its cries For I couldn’t stand the sound, pain in gentle eyes Poor, poor innocent thing
Again and again, it called to me And I went to it So eagerly
Until suddenly the lamb grew big Gone now was that soft white fur Peeled away to reveal something awful, sinister
Suddenly, it’s in my house In my thoughts and it won’t get out For no longer is it an innocent lamb that beckons me
I am cornered now With no escape For it has me by the neck Dangling from its teeth
A wolf has tricked me And blind I went so willingly
