First time as a homeowner, is this typical?

I used TH for the first time recently and I have found the experience bizarre and disappointing as a homeowner. I live in a desirable European city and have an apartment in the city center.

I took a lot of pains to prepare my home and make it comfortable for guests. I had it cleaned. I bought some new towels and pillow cases. I made room in the dresser and closet and fridge. Etc.

When I came home I noticed a lot of my furniture had been re-positioned. This seemed odd, but ok, I guess you can redecorate.

Then I noticed 2 areas of furball/cat vomit on the floor that had dried up and not been cleaned up. This was in the middle of the living room. I arrived several hours after the sitter left so this couldn’t be fresh.

The sitter had liberally helped themself to almost anything in the cabinets from candles to waterproofing spray. Alright fine. The spray was left in a workspace I’d asked them not to use which is why I noticed it.

Later I noticed a strange piece of metal on the floor and it turns out it was from a chair in a completely different room. There seems to be a piece missing as the metal slat can’t be re-inserted in the chair. I was told when I asked what happened that the piece “fell out” when the chair was moved to another room and I should just look around for the missing piece. Ok.

Today while cleaning I realized that there are giant black marks all over my wooden floor from the furniture being dragged around. Some are scratches some are surface scuffs.

The sitter was here for just over 2 weeks and really seemed to have made themself at home, didn’t mention anything they had broken or destroyed. When I asked about all this I was told one couldn’t possibly leave everything exactly as it was after 2 weeks. My concerns were dismissed as petty or silly.

The pet sitting part seems to have gone fine but I find the home care part a bit problematic. Am I overreacting? I am really put off from ever using the app again.
