Authentic Peruvian experience

Viajes a Peru | PeruTrip :MachuPikachu:

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a two weeks trip to Peru in October. This isn’t a vacation, and I want to disconnect from everything I know, step into unfamiliar territory, and experience life with no filters, no comfort, no pretense. My goal is to challenge myself physically and mentally, and gain perspective by living with indigenous communities and spending time in wild, remote nature.

What I’m looking for:

  • Staying with local/indigenous communities, participating in everyday life — not as a tourist, but as a respectful guest willing to learn and help

  • Multi-day treks in the Amazon or remote Andes, ideally with a local guide; sleeping in a hammock, minimal gear, no tech

  • Joining — only if welcomed and appropriate — traditional rituals, plant medicine, or ceremonies

  • Exploring regions like Kosñipata, Manu, Alto Madre de Dios, Apurímac Valley, Vilcabamba, Satipo, Asháninka territory

  • Avoiding all mainstream tourism or organized packages — I want something raw and real, even if it’s uncomfortable

What I need help with:

  • Do you know any local guides, organizations, or contacts that could help set up this kind of experience?

  • Has anyone done something similar? Any advice on gear, health risks, logistics?

  • How can I connect with remote communities in a respectful and non-intrusive way?

This trip is meant to push my limits, shift my perspective, and disconnect from the noise. I don’t care about comfort or sightseeing — I want an honest, challenging experience far away from everything familiar.

If you’ve done something similar, or know someone who can help, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.
