[QUESTION] Looking for a guitar ~ $500 USD/EUR; overwhelmed by range of products, living close to Thomann in Germany

I've waited a long time before creating this post because there are so many of them, but I just can't make any further progress on my own.

TL;DR: I got a Gio Ibanez in 2000 and have recently got back into playing. I'm looking to upgrade, but I'm overwhelmed by the range of products available.

I live in rural Bavaria, which is often a disadvantage, but this also means that Thomann is nearby. In other words, trying out guitars shouldn't be a problem.

Whats the problem?

Although I'm a beginner, I've noticed that my old Gio is holding me back. I considered getting it serviced, but I'd rather invest that money in a new guitar.

What kind of music do I play?

It depends on my mood. I'd say: 50% metal (mostly Metallica and Tool at the moment), 20% rock and 30% oldies and pop.

What am I looking for?

I want something that will inspire me to pick up the guitar and play, even when I'm not in the mood. I really like the single-cut Les Paul look, but the double-cut can also look nice — maybe even a Super Strat. I just feel like I'm not interested in getting another Stratocaster like my old Gio. I want something different. Colour? I'll figure that out later.

So?

My main problem is that I have no idea how the choice of guitar influences the music I want to play. I don't play in a band and I'm not planning to join one. I play at home for myself, and if I can produce an authentic sound through my headphones, that's enough for me. Unfortunately, the second-hand market is not an option for me at the moment — it's just not worth the stress, even though I know it would probably be a good idea.

So far, I have looked at the following guitars online. Does anyone have any other suggestions or a favourite, or can anyone help me eliminate some?

• Epiphone Les Paul Classic Ebony: €529
• Yamaha Revstar RSE20: €432
• ESP LTD EC-256: €499
• Schecter Demon S-II: 629 euros (probably the absolute limit of my budget – I'd rather not spend this much unless it's really worth it).
• Ibanez? I don't know.
• Then there's the elephant in the room: Harley Benton. I'm sceptical, but at least support wouldn't be a problem since Thomann is right around the corner.

Any help would be appreciated. I've tried most ressources available to me, but at the moment I feel stuck.
