Cabin dog and need for health certificate?
Hi all - I’m taking a weekend trip from Washington to see some family in Idaho. My pup can fit under the seat. Alaska Airlines website states a health certificate is not needed for a pet to fly in the cabin. However, they mention checking requirements for the state you fly to. It looks like Idaho requires a health certificate and current rabies vaccine to bring a pet there. I guess I’m just wondering how strict that requirement is? Will a gate agent check for a health certificate once they see our destination? Or will someone stop me once we get there to check?
I have rabies vaccine documentation so all good there but I don’t really want to try to arrange a vet check before then. Just a little annoyed that I could make the drive there and no one would bat an eye bringing a dog that way, but since I’m going on an airline I have to take extra time to see a vet and pay for paperwork.
Also please don’t come at me - my dog is in good health. We just went to the vet in June to update vaccines and get her teeth cleaned.
