Review - Lego Speed Champs 2023 F1 Mclaren - Set 76919

Lego Speed Champs 2023 F1 Mclaren is a small set with 245 pcs with a few printed pieces like the nose cone and the steering. Majority of pieces are small so do not be fooled by the piece count. The set contains 3 bags and a sticker sheet with 30 individual stickers and 1 minfig.

Size: The fully built set has the following measurements -

Length: 19 cms / 7.5 inches, Width: 7.5 cms / 3 inches, Height: 4 cms / 1.6 inches

Measurements

Here I have compared it next to the Lego Mclaren Mp4/4 (Set no. 10330) to give you a context of the size.

Two Mclarens from two different generation of F1 cars

Bag 1

With Bag 1 you build the chassis of the car and paste 4 stickers. There is no complicated building technique involved. And with a few large pieces its fairly easy to assemble.

You also assemble the one minifigure that comes with this set. The minifigure has the option of either a helmet or hairpiece.

End of bag 1 with main chasis

Steering wheel is a printed piece

Bag 2

In bag 2, you assemble the nose section of the car (printed piece), front wings and the engine cover (partially printed). This part has the most tiny pieces so it can be a bit frustrating if you have large fingers. Many stickers also have to put on at this stage.

Nose section is a printed piece whereas the front wing has two stickers with \"chrome\" branding

Engine cover is a partially printed piece with \"Chrome\" sticker for additional branding

Bag 3

Bag 3 is for assembling side pods with many stickers and back wing and wheels. Again no complicated building technique but small pieces and many stickers can be frustrating.

Overall:

The completed set is a beauty. But with many small pieces, stickers and simple build techniques its not meant for an adult or a non F1 fan. The set is retiring in 2025 and for a good reason as even with 50% discount its not worth it. You can give it a miss.
