Races (USA/ Southeast/ Eastern Seaboard) with closed cycling routes

I’m working on getting over my fear of road cycling. I do it but mostly to get to a trail. Local incidents ending badly for cyclists have ramped up here this summer so it’s made it harder mentally.

For now, anyone have recs on races with closed cycling routes? I’m in the southeastern US but willing to travel some.
