Extremely high calprotectin score

Hi,

Not sure if this is the correct place to be posting but I recently suffered from a bad bout of diarrhoea, mucus, stomach cramps and a tiny bit of blood whilst on holiday in the Caribbean. I was going to the toilet around 15-20 times a day at my worst sometimes just pooing a small mucous (sorry TMI). 3 days after I got home I was 98% better but my doctor thought it was best to still do a stool test for infection and inflammation.

My test for infection came back negative, but my calprotectin test came back at 6000??? My GP wants to do another test next week to see if it’s gone down anymore and will most likely refer me for a colonoscopy.

I’m just really confused as now I no longer have diarrhoea and my stools are normally formed. I will say I do go around 5/6 times a day in comparison to 3/4 prior to my bout and I also have a very mild cramp if I need to go.

Just wanted to know if anyone else with ulcerative colitis has experienced this before?
